This policy explains what personal information Race Posters collects, why, and what you can do about it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Race Posters is run by Michael Sowden in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I'm responsible for your information.
What I collect

Order details: your name, email, delivery address, phone number if you give one, and what you ordered.

Poster details: the finish time, name, bib number and race year you want printed.

Payment: Shopify and its payment partners process your payment. I see the payment status and the last digits of your card, but never your full card details.

Messages: anything you send me by email or through the race request form.

Website use: like most online shops, this site uses cookies and similar tools to keep your cart working, to understand how people use the site, and to measure advertising.
Why I use it
- To make, print and deliver your poster, and to send you updates about your order.
- To answer your questions and sort out any problems.
- To improve the website and my posters.
- To send you marketing emails, but only if you've opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To show ads to people who may be interested, for example on Facebook, Instagram and Google, and to see how well they work.
Who I share it with
I only share what's needed with the services that help run the shop:

Shopify, which hosts this store and processes payments.

Gelato, which prints and ships your poster. They receive your poster details and delivery address.

Couriers and postal services that deliver your order.

Google and Meta, for website analytics and advertising.
Some of these services store information outside New Zealand. I don't sell your personal information.
How long I keep it
I keep order records for as long as I need them to run the business and to meet tax and accounting rules, usually seven years. Messages and marketing preferences are kept until you ask me to delete them or they're no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it where I don't need to keep it. Email michaelsowden17@gmail.com and I'll respond within 20 working days. If you're not happy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Keeping it safe
Your information is held on secure systems run by Shopify and the services listed above. No online system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the date at the top.
